Structure and Content

Transitional regulations

Those people who started in the old system can still finish in this one. For example, anyone who has already completed 3 modules up to and including FS22 can book the remaining 3 modules up to and including FS23 in order to complete the program and receive a certificate.

Those who have completed the TA qualification program in the old system with a certificate have the possibility to change to the new system. There are the following possibilities to get up to two ECTS credits:

  • Booking of the summer school
  • Booking of the consolidation module, although only components can be attended that were not selected as consolidation modules in the old system. If you have any questions, please contact us by mail.

From HS22 there will be a new look for the TA qualification program!

From the next semester, the previous structure of the TA qualification program will be replaced by a three-stage system. Up to 3 ECTS can be earned with this system.

Structure 2.0

The levels can be booked independently from each other. However, we recommend that  you only complete the consolidation module and the summer school after you have passed the basic module.

Basic Module

The content and exercises of the basic module serve as an introduction to university teaching.  The module contains the following components:

  1. Location and role determination
  2. Feedback and assessments
  3. Presentation and performance
  4. Course-planning and student activation/conflict resolution

Proof of achievement / ECTS

The proof of achievement consists of a portfolio submitted via OLAT in combination with obligatory online activities. Dates and times for the online activities are published in the course catalog and in the OLAT course.

The module gives 1 ECTS.

Consolidation Module

On the one hand, the advanced module consists of OLAT courses. These address (subject-)specific requirements such as an introduction to online teaching or the use of playful elements in university teaching (gamification). On the other hand, workshops are held in the form of online and face-to-face formats. For example, topics such as "creating learning videos" and "using activating methods in the classroom" are deepened. The students are free to choose four modules out of the thematic contents (as OLAT courses or workshops).

Proof of performance / ECTS credits
The proof of performance consists of creating a portfolio based on four selected course contents. Dates and times for the online activity / workshops are published in the course catalog and in the OLAT course.

The module gives 1 ECTS.

Summer School

During the lecture-free period in summer, the "Start! Summer School" is offered on various topics. It is a block event.

Proof of performance / ECTS credits
The proof of performance consists of creating a portfolio and participating in the meetings during the summer school.

The Summer School gives 1 ECTS.

Sample curriculum

The modules can be completed in several semesters and without a fixed order. However, we recommend that you only attend the consolidation module and the summer school after you have completed the basic module. A sample curriculum could look like this:
